‘Sunderland to land Jobe Bellingham replacement already’ amid £10m development
Jobe Bellingham will certainly take some replacing at Sunderland.
The Englishman departed with the blessing of the Mackems to Borussia Dortmund, in order to follow in his brother, Jude’s footsteps.
This secured a record sale figure for the Black Cats, which will be spent in the hopes of remaining in the Premier League in the upcoming campaign.
With that being said, an alternative for Bellingham will be required in SR5, with an option already being lined up ahead of the summer window.
Sunderland eye £10m Bellingham replacement
It will certainly be difficult to find someone who can do exactly what the 19-year-old has done throughout his time at the Stadium of Light.
This comes after finally finding a perfect role for the ex-Birmingham City midfielder under the tutelage of Regis Le Bris in the second tier.
At the heart of midfield alongside Dan Neil, the England under-20 international found a home that allowed him to showcase his talents.
This sparked fresh interest from Bundesliga giants Dortmund, a team that Bellingham certainly couldn’t turn down, regardless of promotion.
Now, alternative options are being assessed for the recently departed star, with Motherwell’s Lennon Miller emerging as a potential target for Sunderland.
The Black Cats are preparing a £10million bid for the 18-year-old, who is also of interest to both Celtic and Rangers this summer [Sports Boom, 11 June].
Now that the SR5 club can offer regular Premier League football in the heart of midfield to the Scotland international, he could opt to be a Jobe replacement in the north east.
Miller could be superb for Sunderland
The Mackems have become famed for their signing and usage of young players ever since dropping down to League One.
This is the strategy that has ultimately helped them back to the top division, with Tommy Watson grabbing the winner at 19 years old.
