Sunderland to exploit Jobe Bellingham name as Borussia Dortmund give chase – expert
Sunderland will be able to optimise the “marketing potential” of Jobe Bellingham and his family name, finance expert Dan Plumley says.
Bellingham arrived in a £3million deal from Birmingham City in 2023 and has been an impressive regular in the side despite still only being 19 years of age, also representing the England Under-21 side.
Borussia Dortmund, the former club of Jobe’s illustrious brother Jude, are suggested to be monitoring the attacking midfielder’s situation [The Sun, 10 November].
“Absolutely, the name is there. Sunderland will look to exploit that as much as they can and rightly so, there’s nothing wrong with that,” Plumley exclusively told Mackem News.
“I’m led to believe Borussia Dortmund are interested which is intriguing given the path his brother has taken in his career.
“Of course, the name has marketing potential and that could benefit Sunderland.”
Jobe Bellingham happy at Sunderland for now
Bellingham is always going to attract suitors whether that be through his name, his footballing experience for his age or a hybrid of both.
Dortmund have been mooted based on how the club developed the elder of the two brothers into a world-class player, who excelled at Real Madrid in his maiden year at the Bernabeu.

The 19-year-old has already racked up 61 senior games for the Black Cats since moving north, scoring nine goals after 26 first-team appearances for Birmingham City.
