The Black Cats were always going to lose Bellingham
Understandably, there was a sliver of hope that Bellingham would remain on Wearside after Sunderland’s play-off triumph.
However, the teenager was always going to leave to boost his career, even after Premier League promotion.
Dortmund represents a unique opportunity for the midfielder to play for a team with Champions League potential and to follow in his brother’s sizeable footsteps.
Having arrived for a little over £1million, there will be a huge PSR uplift for the Mackems to exploit between now and the end of the transfer window, which could be critical.
