Sunderland supporters will be delighted by Premier League announcement ahead of Everton clash

Sunderland are slowly gearing up for their Monday night clash with Everton, and the latest news will spark further optimism.

With 17 points accumulated by November, Sunderland have had a miraculous start to the Premier League campaign, and already have one foot in the door of survival.

Sunderland’s 2-1 win away to Chelsea was a huge three points for the Black Cats, who will be looking to add another three when they host the Toffees on Monday night.

With that in mind, Wearsiders should hold even more optimism about their chances of doing so after the latest announcement made by the Premier League.

Tom Bramall named as referee for Sunderland vs Everton

Everton, like Sunderland, have had a superb start to the season under a very unpopular figure around these parts.

David Moyes will return to the Stadium of Light, eight years after he led the Black Cats to their relegation from the Premier League.

The Scotsman will be looking to build on his side’s impressive start to the campaign, though the latest announcement may play into the favour of the hosts.

Tom Bramall has been named as the official for Monday’s clash, and in the eight games he has been in charge of a Sunderland game, the Black Cats have only lost once.

The most recent encounter saw Sunderland secure a 0-0 draw away to Crystal Palace, which is one of several excellent results already achieved by Regis Le Bris’ side so far this season.

Which other Sunderland games has Tom Bramall officiated?

Of the other six games that Bramall has officiated for the Black Cats, they have won four and drawn two.

Just last season, Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Portsmouth had Bramall in the centre, as well as their 1-0 win away to Cardiff back in 2023.

Quite remarkably, Bramall hasn’t dished out a red card to a Sunderland player in any of those fixtures, though he has booked someone in all but one of them.

After Monday night’s clash, Bramall will have only been in charge of games involving six more teams than he has for the Black Cats.
