Sunderland supporters in awe after major Jobe development – ‘Refreshing’
Sunderland have been in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over the sale of Jobe Bellingham.
With a Premier League campaign to attend to and plenty of recruitment needed at the Stadium of Light, fans have been excited for this summer period.
However, as soon as the play-off final was finished, most of the focus has been on the future of Jobe, who has been in talks with Dortmund over an exit before the Club World Cup.
As of Thursday (5 June), it seemed as though it was only a matter of time until his departure was announced.
But a new update on Jobe’s future from Germany has thrown a spanner in the works, and fans are praising the club for the way they are reportedly going about it.

Dortmund yet to agree fee for Jobe transfer
Even before the Black Cats achieved promotion, many supporters had already resigned to the fact that Jobe would be leaving at some stage in the summer, though others thought the lure of Premier League football could be enough to entice him to stay.
Sunderland | Games | Goals | Assists |
Jobe | 41 | 4 | 3 |
The latter is now evidently unlikely, with terms already agreed, but a sticking point in the deal has since emerged.
Dortmund are not willing to meet Jobe’s £33million release clause, and it seems as though Sunderland aren’t willing to budge from it either, with fans loving the fact that their side are finally being resolute when it comes to negotiating exits.
Sunderland will not be forced into player sales
Sunderland under the stewardship of Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, compared to Sunderland under Stewart Donald are two completely different prospects.
The latter sold some of the Black Cats’ best young talent for pennies, while the former isn’t prepared to sanction exits unless it is Sunderland that are getting the best side of the deal.
It certainly is refreshing, and it is exactly how it should be.
If a club want to sign a player from Wearside, you pay the going price and nothing less, and it serves as a huge cause for optimism that those in charge follow a similar idea.
