Sunderland star Brian Brobbey reaches ‘personal agreement’ for surprise transfer

In-form Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey is attracting interest from clubs abroad.

On the final day of the summer transfer window back in September, Sunderland signed Ajax striker Brobbey for a fee worth up to £21.75million.

Brobbey had an inauspicious start at the Stadium of Light as he struggled to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League.

However, Brobbey has scored three goals in his last five Sunderland games and is now leading Regis Le Bris‘s attack with great strength and power.

And off the back of his recent good form, the former RB Leipzig forward is said to be attracting interest from Turkiye ahead of their later deadline.

Fenerbahce eye unlikely deal for Sunderland’s Brian Brobbey

Brobbey is starting to find his feet at Sunderland, who sit a whopping 16 points above the relegation zone in their first season back in the Premier League since 2017.

While the Dutchman had a slow start at his new team, the Mackems hit the ground running and were in the top six earlier this season.

Amid his good form, Soccer News has relayed that Brobbey has apparently reached a “personal agreement” to join Fenerbahce on loan for the rest of the season.

The Turkish transfer window closes on Friday, and if they get this unlikely deal done, the Yellow Canary club would like an option to buy him in the summer.

It seems very unlikely that Sunderland would entertain such an approach, and it’s added that it is “doubtful” Brobbey would move to Fenerbahce.

The striker’s contract with Sunderland runs until 2029, so the 24-year-old is in “no hurry” to depart the Premier League side, so take this so-called news with a massive pinch of salt.

Sunderland dip into transfer market again

Sunderland spent more than £160m on transfers last summer as they successfully adapted to the challenges of the Premier League.

But in the winter window, safe in the knowledge that they are practically safe from being relegated this season, Sunderland were less gung-ho in the market.

Goalkeeper Melker Ellborg was signed from Malmo for a modest fee, as was the case for winger Jocelin Ta Bi from Maccabi Netanya.

Towards the end of the window, Anderlecht wideman Nilson Angulo signed on, while Simon Adingra joined Monaco on loan and Adil Aouchiche headed to Schalke on a free transfer, among other deals.

Now that their top-flight status is all but secured, Sunderland fans can enjoy the rest of a season that is looking more enticing by the minute.

As for Brobbey, he’s going nowhere.
