Sunderland star breaks unexpected Premier League record vs Aston Villa
Sunderland had to dig deep to secure a precious point against Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light.
The Premier League contest was a fairly even affair until Reinildo was sent off for kicking out at Matty Cash.
Cash then punished the Black Cats with a long-range goal before Wilson Isidor levelled the scoring for Sunderland.
The contest ended in a 1-1 draw, and one of Regis Le Bris’ soldiers achieved something never done in the top flight.

Wilson Isidor makes Premier League record vs Aston Villa
Isidor was in line to emulate Darren Bent as he took to the field against Unai Emery’s men.
The forward has experienced a mixed time on Wearside, but is looking like the player who bagged some astonishing goals in the Championship.
Isidor had to settle for a place on the bench during Sunderland’s first three league games of the season, before receiving a rare start against Crystal Palace.
While he did not offer much at Selhurst Park, he delivered in the big moment against Villa at the Stadium of Light.
- Isidor had an xG of 0.62
- He had 17 touches in total
- Managed two shots on target
With the Black Cats one goal down, Granit Xhaka’s lofted ball drifted over Ezri Konsa and fell at the feet of Isidor, who guided the ball home.
By scoring, the 25-year-old became the first player in Premier League history to score in each of a newly-promoted side’s first three home games of the season.

When Marc Guiu arrived at the Stadium of Light, many thought that Isidor’s influence on Wearside would diminish.
However, it is funny what a goal and an unexpected transfer can do for players in the space of just a few weeks.
Isidor benefited from limited minutes during the first few games, but crucially, he has managed to take his chances when they came his way.
Last season, the 25-year-old scored a range of impressive goals before losing all confidence in the second half of the campaign.
However, the forward is now brimming with confidence and does not look like missing when going one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Indeed, he is now surely ahead of Eliezer Mayenda and Brian Brobbey in the pecking order, meaning it is his place to lose.
