Sunderland star adored by Alan Shearer reveals what Kylian Mbappe told him after Chelsea win
Sunderland’s impressive start to the campaign has even caught the attention of Kylian Mbappe.
The Black Cats were told at the very start of the campaign that they would finish with a record low number of points, and having picked up 17 points after nine games, those predictions have certainly failed.
Sunderland’s 2-1 win against Chelsea at the weekend was a remarkable occasion for everyone affiliated with the red and white stripes, with the result momentarily taking the Wearsiders up to the dizzying heights of second in the Premier League.
Fans are still talking about the win days after it happened, and the nature of the performance even earned approval from Real Madrid superstar Mbappe.
Nordi Mukiele spoke with Kylian Mbappe
Granit Xhaka, Robin Roefs, Noah Sadiki; the list goes on.
Sunderland’s summer signings have taken the Premier League by storm this season, and that is without even mentioning Nordi Mukiele.
Alan Shearer has even praised Mukiele’s performances throughout the season, and the Frenchman has been remarkable since making the move from PSG.
It was no different at Stamford Bridge, with Mukiele certainly playing his part in what was a momentous day for all involved with Sunderland, not long after he scored his first goal for the club in their win against Wolves.
Even Mbappe has been taking notice of Sunderland, and in an interview with Andy Sixsmith on X, Mukiele revealed what the Real Madrid star had told him.
“Kylian just said to me that Sunderland have made a good start!” Mukiele said.
“He should know about Sunderland already – we talk about all things in football – and he saw that we’re doing a great season at the moment!”
Nordi Mukiele’s stats are truly mind-blowing
This is a reminder that Sunderland paid just £10million to sign Mukiele, who has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League this season.
That isn’t an opinion; it is a fact based on his stats.
Via FotMob, the Frenchman has won 21 tackles, which is the most of any centre back in the top flight.
71.8 per cent of his duels have resulted in him winning the ball, with a remarkable 51 duels won in total throughout the campaign.
Despite playing as a centre back, Mukiele has also created four chances so far, with an xA (expected assists) of 0.3.
If he can keep this level of performance up, Sunderland will have zero fears of relegation come the end of the campaign.
