Sunderland rank lowest for squad value in the Premier League

Despite their big spending spree, Sunderland ranks the lowest for squad value in the Premier League.

According to Transfermarkt (11 July) the Black Cats’ team is deemed to be worth £192.99 million.

This is slightly lower than Burnley at £196.65m, with fellow promoted side Leeds United at £203.19m.

Everton and Wolves, who are both expected to struggle in the Premier League next season, follow at £246.07m and £270.4m.

Sunderland currently sit bottom of the rankings

Rivals Newcastle United are eighth-highest on the list with a value of £556.56m.

With plenty of time left in the transfer window, there is still time for this to change, with Sunderland expected to remain active in the transfer window.

Le Bris has done well to catch fellow promoted sides

Given that Sunderland were promoted to the Premier League with little top-flight experience, Le Bris deserves credit for getting the value of the squad to a similar level compared to his rivals.

As a result of his signings, the Black Cats now have an increased chance of staying up, a task that looked impossible a few weeks back.

Momentum at the start of the campaign will be key, but if Le Bris can guide his side to a successful start, they may have a chance of staying in the division.

Hopefully, more signings will soon be on their to the Stadium of Light to help complete this task.
