Sunderland spokesperson confirms cancelled Wembley tickets in huge controversy
Sunderland are now just one match away from Premier League glory as they prepare to face Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final.
Dan Ballard’s heroics against Coventry City, has pushed the Black Cats one step closer to completing their goal.
On top of the Stadium of Light faithful, many Premier League fans are also keen to see Sunderland back in the top-flight.
It would no doubt be a sensational achievement for Regis Le Bris, who only took charge of the Black Cats this summer.
Many fans are also keen to get to Wembley for next week’s game, but Sunderland have recently had an issue with their ticketing system, which they have now addressed.

Sunderland fans were able to purchase play-off final tickets without the correct entitlement
Sunderland have always had a strong fan base supporting the club.
The Stadium of Light was unsurprisingly sold out for their match against Coventry as they reached the final.
Simon Jordan was also quick to praise Sunderland’s atmosphere after Ballard’s late goal.
Therefore, for next week’s match against Sheffield United, tickets are in high demand.
However, it has recently become clear that some supporters managed to get tickets for the final despite not having the correct entitlement.

As a result, a Sunderland spokesperson has now come out and stated that it was an issue on Ticketmaster’s platform.
Simon Pryde said on Total Sport – North East (14 May): “A Sunderland spokesperson said due to an error on Ticketmaster’s platform, Sunderland are aware that some supporters without the correct entitlements were able to purchase tickets earlier today, for the Championship playoff final.
“The club has notified its ticketing partner of this error and has subsequently been informed these tickets will be cancelled and refunded.”

Many Sunderland fans will inevitably miss out on Wembley trip
It is no secret that Sunderland’s play-off final against Sheffield United is their biggest game in decades.
As a result, another sell-out will be expected, which will inevitably mean that some fans will miss out.
The game will be broadcast live, however, Sky Sports did make a terrible error in Sunderland’s playoff semi-final.
Therefore, it is hard to blame the fans who managed to get a ticket through the error, as they might not be able to get one for the day.
However, Sunderland have done the right thing by cancelling the ones that have been issued.
