Sunderland seal ‘out of this world’ transfer as new Diarra update emerges

Sunderland are close to sealing a record-breaking transfer, with a deal agreed to sign Habib Diarra from Strasbourg.

Diarra was coveted by several Premier League clubs, including Leeds, but he will now move to Wearside in the coming days.

Sunderland have moved quickly to strengthen their midfield following the departure of Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund, and have now secured a top talent in Diarra.

The Black Cats are aiming to stay in the Premier League after their promotion from the Championship, stopping the trend of immediate relegation.

Sunderland fans praise ambition over Diarra signing

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has helped the Mackems return to the top flight after a long absence, and his ambitions are now clear.

Regis Le Bris will hope to keep Sunderland up despite losing some of his brightest talent already, and signings like Diarra will certainly help.

Fans have now taken to social media to praise the impending signing, which is seen as a coup given Diarra’s quality as well as the interest in him.

Diarra is game-changing signing for Sunderland

The departure of Bellingham was set to hit Sunderland hard, but they will now hope to build an even better midfield around Diarra instead.

The 21-year-old was outstanding for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 last season, recording nine goal contributions from midfield in 30 games.

Despite his young age, Diarra was Strasbourg’s captain and will bring leadership to this young Sunderland side.

The Senegal star will arrive as a club-record signing, and one of the most expensive players signed by a newly-promoted side in Premier League history.

The last two seasons have seen all three promoted sides go straight back down, and Dreyfus is clearly keen to avoid following this trend by sanctioning a big-money deal.

The midfielder still follows Sunderland’s transfer strategy in recent years of signing younger players to be moulded into the first team, and he will join Enzo Le Fee in the middle of the park.

They could be joined by a more experienced option if Jordan Henderson returns to the club as speculated, and Sunderland fans have plenty of reasons to be optimistic ahead of next season.
