Sunderland reveal: Agent shares what he’s seen at Stadium of Light

Sunderland are moving in a positive trajectory both on and off the pitch at the moment.

Regis Le Bris’ team took a significant step toward securing a playoff position on Saturday (5 April) when they defeated their fellow promotion hopefuls West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Trai Hume scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute, which solidified their position in fourth place, but they also put further pressure on Leeds United.

The Yorkshire side were held to a surprising draw against Luton Town on Saturday, which allowed Sunderland to shrink the gap on the third-placed side to just five points.

Sunderland are building a positive environment

Sunderland have been thriving on the pitch throughout this season, and the atmosphere around the club is proving to be a positive one for all who are concerned.

The positivity is one of the reasons why Sunderland are in the position they are, to be challenging for a return to the top flight of English football, and that’s something that is stretching to the younger members of the squad.

Football agent Guy Branston revealed in the Football League Paper [Page 39, 6 April] that he has a young player at Sunderland right now, in Tom Lavery.

He revealed that all suggestions are pointing toward the Black Cats being a club with a clear plan for their young players and are doing things the right way to help them come through to the first team.

Le Bris has had no problem in giving younger players opportunities throughout his tenure at the Stadium of Light, and that’s something that has helped the team in terms of their results.

Sunderland’s odds of promotion have increased

Sunderland’s win against West Brom was an impressive one due to the fact that the Baggies are also attempting to gain promotion, and consecutive 1-0 wins have proven their ability to grind out a result when needed.

That’s something that Opta’s supercomputer has reflected on when predicting their promotion chances as they are anticipated to finish on 85 points at the end of the season.

While they aren’t going to be close to an automatic place, it is clear that they have all but secured their place in the playoffs, which will give them a real chance to earn promotion.
