Sunderland respond as new Jobe Bellingham announcement made amid exit links

Jobe Bellingham has been the focus of an announcement made away from Sunderland.

This summer is shaping up to be a hectic one for the Black Cats, as they prepare for life back in the Premier League after an eight-year absence.

With Wilfried Singo among several others linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, it is evident that they are prepared to show some ambition in the transfer window, in a bid to bolster their survival chances.

However, much of the focus remains on the future of Jobe, who is set to jet away for a reason not many would have expected.

Jobe exit rumours persist on Wearside

Will he stay? Will he go? They are the questions on the lips of every Sunderland supporter currently, with strong links connecting him with a move to Dortmund.

The 19-year-old has certainly been attracted by the opportunity to play for the Bundesliga giants, but as of yet, a fee has not been agreed.

Dortmund wanted to sign the teenager before their Club World Cup campaign gets underway, but a recent update makes that seem unlikely.

England Under-21’s have since announced that Jobe has been called up to the squad for the upcoming international break, which takes place at the same time as the Club World Cup.

In response to the announcement, Sunderland posted via X: “Congratulations to Jobe, who’s been named in Lee Carsley’s England Under-21 squad for the U21 EURO finals!”

Jobe’s future needs to be sealed early this summer

If Sunderland lose Jobe, it would be a blow, though it would be one that could be addressed if a deal is agreed early enough in the window.

However, the longer this drags on, the harder it will be to replace him, and that is the concern that lingers over Wearside.

Sunderland are in desperate need of reinforcements, and they can’t afford to have their time wasted by this deal dragging on.

Enzo Le Fee became their first signing of the summer, and he will undoubtedly be the first of many.
