Sunderland reach agreement with Florent Ghisolfi despite Juventus interest

Sunderland are making new additions to their backroom staff.

At this stage of the year, most of the focus will be on recruitment at the Stadium of Light, though the majority of that will be fixated on players.

Sunderland have been linked with lots of players, and after the permanent arrival of Enzo Le Fee, fans are waiting eagerly to see who else the Black Cats can attract ahead of their Premier League return.

However, the second addition on Wearside looks set to be an unexpected one, which could prove to be significant.

Sunderland set to hire new Director of Football

If there is one thing that can’t be argued ever since Kyril Louis-Dreyfus took control of Sunderland, it is just how well run the Black Cats have been.

The Wearsiders have been on a steady incline, and now that they have reached the promised land of the Premier League, they are looking to make even more significant strides on and off the pitch.

Now, according to a report from Santi Aouna (19 June), Florent Ghisolfi is set to become a new hire at the Stadium of Light, with Juventus one of the sides who had also expressed an interest in his services.

Ghisolfi has a wealth of experience in elite-level football, and his knowledge of the European markets could prove to be a massive boost for Sunderland in their recruitment plans.

Kristjaan Speakman’s future clarified

Very few would have been anticipating Sunderland to make such a drastic change behind the scenes, though it isn’t likely to affect too much elsewhere.

Kristjaan Speakman is expected to stay on despite the appointment of Ghisolfi, and it should allow him to focus more on implementing the strategies that have got the Black Cats back to where they are today.

Things are looking exciting on Wearside, and it should only be a matter of time until transfer activity starts moving again, with plenty of work to be done before their season opener against West Ham United in August.
