Sunderland post new Jobe Bellingham video after latest transfer news

Sunderland have broken their silence over Jobe Bellingham as transfer speculation continues.

The 19-year-old played a leading role in taking the Black Cats back to the Premier League and has been subsequently targeted by multiple clubs.

The likes of Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, Manchester United and West Ham have all been linked with a move.

Bellingham even travelled to Germany to hold talks about a potential move, following in the footsteps of his brother, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, who spent three years at Dortmund.

With his future at the Stadium of Light in doubt, Sunderland have posted a telling video to their social media channels focused on Bellingham.

Sunderland release throwback Bellingham video

Captured in the footage is a fresher-faced, 17-year-old Bellingham singing during an initiation activity from when he first joined the Black Cats in 2023.

Visibly nervous, Bellingham laughs whilst carrying out a rendition of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t help falling in love’.

The video then cuts to the 19-year-old and his teammates singing the same song, in unison with the Sunderland supporters, after achieving promotion to the Premier League at Wembley.

The post is captioned “Life moves pretty fast”, with some fans interpreting this as a farewell message to the teenager, with others believing he will stay.

Obvious in the transition between the two video clips is how much Bellingham has grown as a player and a man, made clear in his performances this term.

Bellingham exit may be inevitable for Sunderland

Although the midfielder is clearly fond of the club, as made obvious by his emotions in the video posted, career progression will be at the forefront of his mind.

His brother Jude showed how vital it can be to make the correct transfer at the right time, with his move to Dortmund instrumental in his development.

Rather than battling immensely to try and keep Jobe, and ultimately risk upsetting the player and his camp, Sunderland may be better suited to try and maximise the selling potential their asset possesses.

The Black Cats will face an uphill battle to retain their Premier League status next term, and selling the youngster whilst Sunderland are a Premier League club would increase his value as opposed to being forced to sell him on the cheap if they were to be relegated.

Maximising the profit for Bellingham is essential, especially when you consider that Birmingham City have a sizeable sell-on clause in place for their former academy graduate.
