Sunderland plotting move for history-making forward who idolises Erling Haaland
Sunderland could have another Erling Haaland on their hands as they plot a bargain money move.
The Black Cats’ return to the Premier League could not have gotten off to a better start. Sunderland triumphed in a 3-0 victory against West Ham and are determined to keep the ball rolling.
Premier League-proven Granit Xhaka started in midfield for Sunderland alongside Habibi Diarra. Both put on stellar performances despite arriving at the Stadium of Light this summer.
But Regis Le Bris has not closed his squad just yet as the Black Cats look to add another addition.

Sunderland plot move for Adam Daghim
As reported by BBC Sport on Monday, 18 August, Sunderland are keen on Red Bull Salzburg forward Adam Daghim
He has made 49 appearances and netted four times for Salzburg after arriving from Aarhus last year. His signing would follow that of Nordi Mukiele, whom the Black Cats have signed from Paris Saint-Germain.
- Daghim’s contract with Salzburg is set to expire on 30 June 2028
- Sunderland have already spent £141.5m in the transfer window
In April 2022, he became the youngest player to appear in the Danish Superliga, making his debut against Vejle.
Given that Daghim is yet to step foot in the Premier League, there is no doubt that he will be eager to have a chance to perform in the top flight.
The forward will be keen to score many goals if his football inspiration is anything to go by.
When asked about his idols in an interview with Salzburg in 2024, he said: “I really like the way Neymar Jr. plays, and as a striker, Erling Haaland is my big idol. He scores loads of goals, and you can’t do the job any better than he does.”
Sunderland are also exploring whether a move for Leicester winger Abdul Fatawu is viable. The Foxes value him at around £30million as he is considered one of their most valuable assets.

How will Daghim begin his career at Sunderland?
While Le Bris will be eager to keep Daghim as a rotational option, there is the possibility that he is loaned either this season or the next.
Daghim has yet to experience English football and could struggle to adjust. If Sunderland remain in the top division, it would not be a surprise if he is loaned to a Championship or recently promoted club.
Of course, this depends on his adaptation. The forward could take the league by storm. But realistically, it should take a few years before he becomes a consistent starter at the Stadium of Light.
