Sunderland player ratings v Hull City — Simon Adingra shines, 3/10 woeful

Sunderland lost 2-1 to Hull City at the MKM Stadium in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday.

Regis Le Bris’ team travelled to Hull on 29 July, as the players got some much-needed minutes into their legs ahead of the Premier League campaign.

The Wearside outfit signed Simon Adingra from Brighton this summer, and the forward’s talents were on show as he opened the scoring.

Nathan Tinsdale equalised for the hosts from Matt Crooks’ cross soon after, though, after an error from the Black Cats, and Abu Kamara scored the winner after Le Bris changed his entire starting eleven, barring the goalkeeper.

Adingra proved his quality v Hull

Apart from scoring a goal, Adingra was a threatening outlet for Sunderland against Hull.

The 23-year-old had the Lions’ defender a lot to think about when on the ball with his quick feet and dribbling.

While the Ivory Coast international’s tidy finish to beat Ivor Pandur was impressive, some of his running with the ball during the first half was worth watching.

The Stadium of Light faithful will be excited to see Adingra shine during pre-season and will hope he takes the form into the upcoming campaign.

Enzo Le Fee must do better for Sunderland

Enzo Le Fee’s transfer to Sunderland was made permanent this summer as the mandatory option to buy him was triggered after Premier League promotion.

The midfielder didn’t have the best of outings against Hull, though, as his errors led to Sergej Jakirovic’s team equalising.

Some loose passes from the 25-year-old Frenchman during the game also led to the Lions creating a few chances that they were unable to convert.

More will be expected from Le Fee when the season starts, and fans will hope he will be ready for the English top flight.
