Liverpool statement shows some things are bigger than football

Jota had an illustrious career, having won nearly everything possible throughout his time with Liverpool and Portugal.

The 28-year-old only recently celebrated his Nations League triumph with his country before tying the knot with his wife just two weeks ago.

Having initially made his mark on English football during a spell at Wolves, Jota immediately became a fan favourite with the Reds as a result of his influence on the pitch and personality off it.

May Jota rest in peace.
