Sunderland overpay for Vanat transfer as ‘astronomical’ details emerge – Exclusive
Vladyslav Vanat could become Sunderland’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
This summer is huge for Sunderland, and if they are to have any chance of avoiding the drop, they need to get their recruitment plans spot on.
Enzo Le Fee is the only arrival so far, though several others are expected at the Stadium of Light in the coming weeks.
One of those could be Kyiv striker Vanat, after it was reported that the Black Cats agreed to match the asking price set by the Ukrainian giants.

Kyiv want Sunderland to break transfer record for Vanat deal
Sunderland will have money to spend this summer, but they will still need to be careful with how they spend it.
Kyiv are said to be holding out for around £21million for the striker, and Ukrainian experts Zorya Londonsk believe that the Black Cats would be overpaying at that price.
Speaking to Mackem News, they said: “Vanat is a fast, good finisher, and links play well with attacking partners.
“He’s a good ball carrier as well, but would say it’s definitely overpriced. He’s a great talent, but is more realistically worth around £12million.

“It’s more than Dynamo Kyiv’s owner is very difficult to negotiate with. He doesn’t like deals paid in instalments, and wants astronomical fees for players.
“So that will be the hardest part for Sunderland to close a deal – everything else is easy. The player definitely wants a new challenge.
“As for Nazariy Rusyn comparisons, they’re both Ukrainian, I guess, but Vanat has a much more open personality.
“He likes jokes, good rapport with teammates. Rusyn was an introvert. Vanat can speak English too, which is a big plus.”

Sunderland have no margin for error
Surviving in the Premier League is a tough task, though with the right planning and decision-making, it is achievable.
Regis Le Bris will be the man tasked with matching that ambition, though their ability to do so will hinge on summer transfer business.
