Regis Le Bris issues transfer update on Sunderland outcast Jewison Bennette
Regis Le Bris has confirmed Jewison Bennette could leave on loan before the transfer window closes, with Reading one of the sides interested.
Bennette made the move to the Stadium of Light two years ago but has made just 21 appearances for the senior side since then.
After spending an injury-plagued spell on loan with Greek side Aris last season, Bennette could now be back on the move.
“The next week will be interesting for all this movement,” Le Bris said at his weekly press conference on Thursday (22 August).
“I think that the players who need to play and find the right solution for their development need to go out on loan.
“So it’s a possibility for him, yes. It’s a possibility for him and other players.”
Sunderland set to sanction more exits before window closes
Le Bris has put together a squad that looks capable of challenging from promotion, at least on the basis of what we have seen so far this season.
It is still early doors, of course, but six points from six – from tricky games with Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday – is hugely encouraging.
Sunderland continue to be linked with players, but it is the outgoings that will likely dominate over the next eight days.
There is the future of Jack Clarke, who is wanted by a number of clubs, while outsiders such as Bennette also look set to depart.

Waving goodbye to Bennette would not exactly be a blow, and a move to League One will provide a chance to kickstart his career.
That is if he can stay fit, which he was unable to do last season. If he does that, though, he can return to Sunderland a different player.
