Sunderland on verge of ‘significant’ new striker transfer as West Ham debut possible
Sunderland are said to be closing on signings number 11 and 12 ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Regis Le Bris has been backed and beyond in the market so far, and Sunderland have shown no signs of stopping there.
Omar Alderete is set to become the 11th addition at the Stadium of Light after a deal was struck with Getafe, with several more expected before the 1 September deadline.
Now, it has emerged that the Black Cats are due to announce the arrival of another new striker, and a debut against West Ham could be on the cards.

Could Lois Openda be mystery striker signing?
Marc Guiu arrived on loan from Chelsea earlier in August, but he isn’t believed to be the only striker Sunderland are going to sign this month.
That is according to Simon Pryde, who said via BBC Newcastle: “We understand that a significant signing is imminent, another striker.
“Don’t know who it is going to be yet, there have been various rumours about who it could be, but it sounds like whoever will lead the line against West Ham is not yet at the club.”
Sunderland’s current striker options.
- Wilson Isidor
- Eliezer Mayenda
- Marc Guiu
As to who that could be, it remains unknown, but fans will immediately be drawn to Lois Openda, who was linked with a move to Sunderland from Leipzig.
Those rumours were spurred on even further when Florent Ghisolfi was spotted at their friendly match with RC Lens over the weekend.
Artem Dovbyk is another name to have been linked, who has also attracted interest from Leeds.

Sunderland definitely need attacking arrivals
With concerns emerging over Eliezer Mayenda’s form in pre-season, Sunderland need to add goals to their forward line if they are to compete in the Premier League.
Simon Adingra will be key to that, and whoever this mystery striker proves to be will also have a huge role to play in the season ahead.
Sunderland fans will be keeping a close eye out for any future developments, which certainly sounds very exciting.
