Sunderland new signing reacts instantly as Leeds agree terms for transfer

Sunderland and Leeds United have formed somewhat of a transfer rivalry this summer.

Premier League survival is no easy feat, yet it is the task that awaits both Leeds and Sunderland next season following their promotion from the Championship.

However, since then, plenty has been made of the two sides’ transfer approach, given the fact that both Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra made the move to Wearside amid interest from the Whites.

With that said, both clubs were able to seal deals of their own today, with the Black Cats’ latest arrival reacting to the news from Elland Road.

Reinildo signing confirmed at Sunderland

It has been a busy few weeks for the Black Cats in the transfer window, having now sealed four new arrivals, with a fifth pending after Chemsedine Talbi completed a medical.

Reinildo officially signed on the dotted line today, joining on a two-year deal after his contract at Atlético Madrid expired, and Leeds have added a new defender to their ranks as well.

Lille’s Gabriel Gudmundsson officially made the move to the Whites, replacing the already departed Junior Firpo.

His exit from the Ligue 1 side was announced via their Instagram account (8 July), with Reinildo liking the post.

Sunderland still need many more additions

Signing a new goalkeeper seems to be high up on the list of priorities for Sunderland, with it looking unlikely that Djordje Petrovic will be arriving, having already missed out on the signing of Marcin Bulka to Saudi Pro League side Neom.

However, the Black Cats are still in need of additions all over the pitch if they are to have any chance of surviving in the Premier League,

Sunderland will start their pre-season fixtures this Saturday (12 July), with the hope that they can have sealed some more new arrivals before then.
