Sunderland medical underway in Madrid as £25.9m Gonzalo Garcia update emerges

Sunderland are looking to add several new faces to their squad this week.

Habib Diarra became the Black Cats’ record-signing this summer, and was followed by the arrival of Congo international Noah Sadiki just days later.

So far, Sunderland have already spent north of £60million this summer, with several more additions expected this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Armand Lauriente talks underway at Sunderland

Regis Le Bris‘ side have already strengthened their midfield options significantly, and now seems to have turned their attention to their forward line.

Armand Lauriente was linked earlier in the window, with a recent report stating that negotiations are now underway between the Black Cats and Sassuolo.

Lauriente worked under Le Bris at Lorient before his move to the Serie A, which could give Sunderland the advantage in the race for his signature.

The Frenchman has already used his relationships to bring Enzo Le Fee to Wearside, and could look to repeat the trick once again in the coming weeks.

Chemsdine Talbi closing in on Wearside switch

Club Brugge’s Chemsdine Talbi is another attacker to have been linked with a move to the Stadio of Light this summer, with a medical booked in for the winger.

Sunderland agreed a £17million fee for the forward, whose arrival at Wearside is to be expected in the coming week.

Talbi scored against Atalanta in the Champions League last season, having also provided several other special moments, which attracted interest across Europe.

However, Sunderland look to have won the race to sign the 20-year-old.

Reinildo undergoing Sunderland medical ahead of two-year deal

Sunderland’s transfer approach this summer has seen a lot of youthful additions to the squad, leaving them in desperate need of experience.

Thankfully, it seems as though that is set to be rectified by the arrival of Reinildo, who is currently undergoing his medical in Madrid.

That is according to Jack Rosser via X (7 July), with it claimed that the Mozambique international will sign a two-year deal with the Black Cats today.

Sunderland launch bid for Gonzalo Garcia

Even if both Talbi and Lauriente arrive, Sunderland will still need more arrivals to bolster their forward line, with a striker high up on their list of priorities.

It has since been reported by Fichajes (6 July) that the Black Cats have made a £25.8m bid for Gonzalo Garcia, while including a 25 per cent sell-on-clause.

The Real Madrid striker is currently top of the goalscoring charts at the Club World Cup, with four goals in five games.
