Sunderland may be planning for Dan Neil exit as January transfer lined up
Dan Neil has yet to start a game for Sunderland in the Premier League.
Sunderland’s summer signing have taken the Premier League by storm this season, though it has come at a cost for many of those who played an influential role in getting the Black Cats back to the top flight.
Neil is one of them, having yet to start since captaining his side to promotion.
The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and with the Black Cats already lining up the signing of another central midfielder, they may also be preparing for his exit.

Matto Guendouzi transfer could unlock Dan Neil exit
Matteo Guendouzi has again been linked with a move to Sunderland, only this time, the chances of a deal seem far more reasonable.
Lazio have lowered their asking price to around £26million, with reports from Italy claiming that the Serie A outfit may consider offers for the Frenchman, who they claimed was untouchable just a few months ago.
If he were to make the move, he would join a midfield of Granit Xhaka, Noah Sadiki and Habib Diarra, all three of whom have already prevented Neil from starting a Premier League game.
With Neril out of contract in the summer, January is set to be a crucial month in deciding where his future lies.

The ideal situation would be to see him sign a new deal on Wearside, though if that fails, they need to take whatever money they can get from his exit.

Dan Neil sale would boost Sunderland’s already strong PSR position
Neil is homegrown, and when players of that quota are sold, it is classed as pure profit.
That is a big green flag from a PSR perspective, which will ultimately determine what Sunderland can and cannot do in the January transfer window.
Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has already revealed Sunderland’s plans for the winter, and it seems as though they are at no immediate risk of breaching PSR.
However, Neil’s exit would only add to that and potentially open the door to some even more lucrative transfers.
