Sunderland announce Regis Le Bris Championship achievement
Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris has been named the Championship Manager of the Month for October, picking up his second accolade of the season.
The Frenchman led his Black Cats side to an unbeaten October run, accumulating 13 points and maintaining their position at the top of the Championship.
Sunderland announced the achievement in a post on their X account on Friday, 8 November.
Regis Le Bris has been a revelation at Sunderland
Taking into account how dismal last season was under Michael Beale and Dodds, very few expected Sunderland to challenge for a top-six position this campaign.
Never mind lead the rest of the division over a quarter of the way through the season.
Le Bris has transformed this Black Cats side into a side capable of that and his pragmatic approach to games has seen Sunderland accumulate points that they could only have dreamed of in previous seasons.
Players such as Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg have thrived under the Frenchman, with the former earning an England Under-21 call-up as a result of his performances.
The latter attacking interest from several English clubs including Crystal Palace most recently.
While there is still a long way to go, the Wearsiders have demonstrated true promotion credentials and this Manager of the Month award certainly won’t be the last for Le Bris as his side chase a return to the Premier League.
In other Sunderland news, Ally McCoist replied to Jeff Stelling’s claim that the Black Cats will achieve promotion with a dig at rivals Newcastle United.
