Sunderland make official playoff semi-final announcement
Sunderland have given an official update on the playoff semi-finals that are now just right around the corner.
The Mackems secured a place in the playoff competition several weeks ago, achieving the situation after an impressive 2024-25 campaign.
Regardless of what happens on the final day of the season, Sunderland will finish in fourth place as they look ahead to the two most important games of the campaign in the semi-finals.
Regis Le Bris’ men will be attempting to book their place at Wembley Stadium, where they will be just 90 minutes away from potentially achieving Premier League football.

Sunderland have provided playoff semi-final ticket updates
Sunderland’s opponents are currently unknown, as up to five different teams could end up earning a match against the Mackems.
If nothing ends up changing with the table, then Bristol City will be their opponents, but Coventry City might also be able to earn that spot.
Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, and Middlesbrough are all still in the race for fifth, in what promises to be an exciting final day of the season.
Either way, Sunderland have confirmed that the away leg will take place on Friday, 9 May, while the second leg at the Stadium of Light will be on Tuesday, 13 May.
League Table | Games Played | Won | Lost | Points |
4. Sunderland | 45 | 21 | 11 | 76 |
Both fixtures will kick off at 8pm, and Sunderland have revealed season ticket holders can now secure their seats for an exclusive price.
That offer is available until Tuesday (6 May), with fans being able to purchase them online, over the phone, or at the ticket office.

Sunderland will need as much support as possible
A sold-out Stadium of Light might be what the squad needs to get them over the line, considering the poor form that the team has displayed lately.
Sunderland have failed to win in their previous five games, with their past four all ending in defeats, which is disastrous form heading into the playoffs.
Le Bris is set to be boosted by the returns of star trio Eliezer Mayenda, Romaine Mundle, and Dan Ballard, who all returned to training recently, and will be hoping to play a part in the playoffs.
