Sunderland loan star backed for Rangers transfer amid Black Cats exit worries

Rangers could be in line to swoop for a Sunderland loanee once the summer transfer window opens.

The Gers have had a difficult season in the Scottish Premiership and could be set for a turbulent few months at Ibrox.

This comes with three games remaining in their campaign, with the Black Cats hoping to have the same number moving into the playoffs.

With the summer window already looming, there is every chance that Regis Le Bris’ side could be raided by Rangers, ready for the new year of action.

Rangers could swoop for Sunderland loanee

There has been a steady stream of positive business at the Stadium of Light in recent years, which many sides would like to replicate.

The signing of someone like Jobe Bellingham has proven to be superb and could result in a huge profit for the Black Cats in the upcoming window.

The Ibrox club are certainly one side who could benefit from this sort of transfer strategy and that could result in them stealing one ace from the Mackems.

Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott suggested on 7 May that the Gers could make an approach for Nectar Triantis in the summer.

This comes after a positive loan spell at Hibernian, which could result in another temporary move if Sunderland earn promotion to the Premier League.

Although Hibs may be at the front of the queue, Rangers could look to jump the gun for the 21-year-old’s signature as he appears to fit the profile of player they want.

Triantis could leave Sunderland for Rangers

As it stands, the Australian has little chance of breaking through in the northeast given the quality already available to Le Bris.

This could all change if the likes of Bellingham and Chris Rigg were to leave with heavy interest in their signature coming through in recent months.

If this duo were to depart, there would certainly be a hole in midfield at the Stadium of Light which would need filling.

Dan Neil would certainly do his utmost, but the addition of Triantis could prove to be useful alongside the Englishman if needed.

It will certainly be interesting to see where the midfielder’s future lies once he returns from Hibernian at the end of the Scottish Premiership season.
