Sunderland ‘know what to do’ to sign Tommy Doyle after Wolves transfer update

Sunderland are chasing players from across Europe as they strive to compete in the top flight.

Although Sunderland have been handed a favourable start to the Premier League season, they are hotly tipped to suffer relegation.

Director of Football Kristjaan Speakman is already hard at work scoring talent from a multitude of countries for the Stadium of Light.

However, the Black Cats have been told what they must do to sign Tommy Doyle from league rivals Wolves, after months of links.

Wolves willing to let Tommy Doyle leave this summer

Sunderland have a Jobe Bellingham hole they must fill if they are to have a chance of survival next season.

The departed Borussia Dortmund man was a linchpin in Regis Le Bris’ side, and the Wearsiders did not win a game in his absence.

With that statistic in mind, the North East outfit must find an adequate replacement if they are to challenge the country’s best.

Sunderland had previously been linked with Doyle as a long-term successor to Bellingham.

However, Wolves are now keen to send the 23-year-old out on loan, according to the Express & Star (24 June).

They state that Doyle is attracting a lot of interest from other clubs and is expected to depart.

The Englishman has found opportunities sparse under Vitor Pereira at Molineaux, making just three starts last term, but they may not want to lose him permanently, at this stage.

Sunderland should pursue loan deal for Doyle

While the Black Cats may want Doyle permanently, this is still positive news for the North East club.

The central-midfielder has not had enough game time to be judged, but is a player with substantial potential.

Doyle came through the ranks at Manchester City and has represented England at seven different youth levels during his career.

Of course, Sunderland could negotiate, and it would be worth them including a buy clause in any potential temporary deal.

That way, the Wearsiders would not risk losing him if he becomes a key figure at the Stadium of Light.

While there is much speculation around this deal, Doyle to Sunderland feels like one that could come to fruition.
