Sunderland journalist rages at Wembley reveal ahead of play-off final – ‘Disgrace’

Sunderland are eight days away from a trip to Wembley, though the occasion has caused lots of controversy on Wearside.

After nine long years outside of the Premier League, Sunderland are now just 90 minutes away from making a return to the English top flight.

Their dramatic semi-final victory against Coventry City sparked some of the craziest scenes ever witnessed at the Stadium of Light, but the events after that caused plenty of trouble.

Sunderland supporters already had plenty of trouble when trying to buy a ticket to Wembley, though it is a slightly different situation that has left people in disbelief.

Mackems taken advantage of once again in Wembley reveal

Sunderland supporters are known for their unrivalled level of passion and backing of their side, even through some of the darkest times in their history.

The last nine years have brought more pain than pleasure to Wearside, and yet the red and white faithful have stood together and deserve moments like this.

However, while many see this as a huge positive, others see it as an opportunity to profit on their loyalty, with some of the tickets for Wembley priced significantly higher than those of Sheffield United.

Thousands of Wearsiders are already going to miss out on the opportunity to see their side at Wembley, with Michael Graham fuming at what he has seen.

Via X, the Black Cats journalist said in response to the ticket price differential: “Heard a few stories like that. Disgrace really.”

Sunderland must take advantage of huge promotion opportunity

Sheffield United are a good side, but as they have showcased throughout the season, they can be beaten, and Sunderland have already achieved that once this season.

If they can do it again on 24 May, they will secure a spot back in the Premier League, joining Leeds United and Burnley, who finished in the top two.

It will be a momentous occasion, and hopefully one that the Black Cats come out on top of.
