Sunderland in talks over £13m January transfer amid latest update from Germany
Sunderland could be set to pocket their sixth biggest transfer fee from a sale in January.
Sunderland are safe from relegation this season – not mathematically, but anyone who has watched the Black Cats will be fully aware that they are at no risk of dropping back into the Championship.
However, their ability to push further will largely be determined by the business they can do in January, with Kyril Louis-Dreyfus aiming for a top 10 finish in the Premier League.
Not only will the Wearsiders be active in terms of incomings, but several stars are also expected to move away from the Stadium of Light, and one exit could see the Black Cats generate healthy profit.

Wolfsburg want to sign Jenson Seelt
Jenson Seelt started the first game of the season for Sunderland, having impressed throughout pre-season.
However, several defensive arrivals pushed him down the pecking order, with the Dutchman eventually going on to sign for Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.
Seelt has impressed there, with Sky Sports Germany now reporting that the Bundesliga outfit is in talks with Sunderland to make it a permanent transfer.
Added to that, a report from Kicker claims that the German side have a £13million option to buy on the defender, who is said to be keen on staying at Wolfsburg.

Spanish clubs are also said to be keen on Seelt, who has started seven games for the Wolves so far this season in the league.
If his permanent departure were to happen, and at that price, he would become Sunderland’s sixth most expensive departure, surpassing the fee that saw Tommy Watson join Brighton in the summer.

Regis Le Bris is a fan of Seelt after what he said earlier this season
Seelt has had a wretched time on Wearside since joining from PSV, with just 21 appearances over two full seasons.
Injuries are the main reason behind that, with Regis Le Bris a fan of the qualities that the Dutchman has to offer.
At the start of the campaign, the Frenchman said: “I’m happy with the progression of Jenson.
“He played only one game last season and maybe just five or 10 minutes at the end of another game. His pre-season was really positive. He’s still a young player and needs to reinforce his body to get adult maturity.
“He’s really talented. I like his style of play. But at the same time the Premier League is really challenging so we need to find the right balance between talented young players and experience.“
