Sunderland face injury wait on key man after int’l news today
Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham has pulled out of the England Elite squad due to injury, journalist Matt Smith has reported.
The 19-year-old has been a stand-out performer in his newly found role under Regis Le Bris and put in another outstanding performance in Sunderland’s 2-2 home draw against Leeds United.
Bellingham was due to feature for Paul Nevin’s side ahead of their encounters with Italy, Czech Republic and Germany but will now not be included.
A social media post from reporter Smith (8 October 4:33pm) stated: “Everton’s Elijah Campbell, on loan at Ross County, has been called up to England men’s Elite League squad. Late call-up with multiple players, including Jobe Bellingham, pulling out due to injury.”
How would Sunderland cope without Jobe?
It’s fair to argue that Bellingham has been Sunderland’s most influential player so far this season, contributing massively everywhere from defence to attack and should Sunderland be forced to lose him for a few games, a glaring hole would be left in the squad.
Sunderland have an abundance of players capable of playing in midfield; Dan Neil, Chris Rigg, Milan Aleksic and so on however none demonstrate the physical nor technical attributes that Bellingham has excelled at this season.

Regis Le Bris’ side have primarily focused on using Jobe as an outlet to connect all parts of the team and the level of maturity in his game is astounding.
Whilst there is plenty of time for any injury concerns to die down, the possibility will certainly be something that could cause a selection dilemma for Le Bris when his side travel to face Hull City upon the conclusion of the international break.
In other Sunderland news, Sunderland have been linked with a move for ex-academy graduate Jordan Henderson and captain Dan Neil should be excited at the rumour.
