Sunderland have Marc Guiu wildcard as bid ready for Axel Disasi transfer
Axel Disasi has been linked with a move to Sunderland, and the Black Cats may have an unexpected boost.
Dan Ballard’s recent injury blow at Sunderland has drastically increased the need for the Black Cats to sign another centre-back this summer.
However, with just six days remaining in the transfer window, time is running out for that to be achieved.
Jhon Lucumi had been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, but it seems as though Sunderland have turned their attention elsewhere, with a deal for Disasi now lined up.

Marc Guiu would prevent Axel Disasi loan at Sunderland
As per a report from Fabrice Hawkins, Sunderland are preparing a formal bid to sign Disasi, who spent the last campaign on loan at Aston Villa.
Bournemouth are also keen, but the Cherries are only willing to make a loan offer, with the option to buy.
That is where Marc Guiu comes in.
As per Premier League rules, you can only have one player on loan from any given club at one time, and with Guiu on loan from Chelsea, Sunderland would be forced into a permanent deal.
- Premier League clubs can register four loans
- Only two can be from other English clubs
- Only one can arrive from any given Premier League club
That will be music to the ears of Chelsea, who will almost certainly be keen to offload him permanently this summer, and could also give the Black Cats the upper hand.
Enzo Maresca will be hoping to bank around £30million from his sale this summer, and if Sunderland are to pursue it, it will have to be accelerated quickly with very little time left in the window.

Axel Disasi would be a brilliant addition at Sunderland
Disasi only featured 10 times for Aston Villa last season, but for Unai Emery to have picked him in several Champions League games speaks volumes for his ability.
The Frenchman is a dominant centre-back who can also play right-back, similar to Sunderland’s Nordi Mukiele.
As showcased from Sunderland’s 2-0 defeat to Burnley, the Black Cats need a robust, powerhouse of a centre-back, and Disasi would fit the bill.
Now, it will be a case of waiting to see whether Sunderland are willing to meet the asking price set by Chelsea.
