View: Sunderland have loan decision to make on 84% Nectar Triantis in January

Nectar Triatis is thriving out on loan at Hibernian and the prospect of a January recall could become rather enticing for the Black Cats.

The Wearsiders are enjoying a successful season but a lack of depth in certain areas could hamper their chances of achieving promotion.

One of those areas is in midfield and links to ex-Leeds midfielder Glen Kamara (JeunesFooteux) showcase their desire to strengthen in that position although they may already have the answer among their ranks.

Triantis has been deployed as a number six for the Scottish outfit and he appears to have all the necessary attributes to thrive on Wearside and it may make sense to recall him in January.

With Dan Neil currently the only fit player capable of occupying a defensive midfield role for Sunderland, the prospect of Triantis’ potential return should certainly be considered and his performances have backed that up.

January will provide the opportunity to strengthen the squad, and it will certainly be a busy month for the Black Cats.

According to Sofascore, Triantis averages 2.6 tackles per game, showcasing his robust play style which has often been lacking on Wearside.

Added to that, the 21-year-old has made 2.9 clearances per game while winning 58 per cent of his ground defensive duels, only marginally worsened by his aerial duel win rate at 54 per cent.

His passing ability has seen him thrive in his new role, with an 84 per cent pass accuracy in his own half which is paramount to someone occupying that position. His ability to keep things simple enables Hibernian to keep things ticking over in transition.

However, with two big chances created and an assist to his name, he can also contribute offensively with his eye for a pass and he could have a role to play this season.

In other Sunderland news, Kristjaan Speakman could seal promotion with these two signings.
