Sunderland have easy decision after details of Trai Hume transfer bid emerge
Sunderland have already sold two key assets this summer and will not want to lose another one.
Tommy Watson left the Stadium of Light to join Brighton for £10million, but gave the ultimate gift of the winning goal in the play-off final.
Then, Jobe Bellingham exited Sunderland for Borussia Dortmund, following in his older brother’s footsteps.
Now, there has been news of a transfer bid for Trai Hume, who has been with the Wearsiders since League One.

Sunderland receive transfer bid for Hume
Hume was announced as Sunderland’s Player of the Season after a superb, consistent showing in the Championship.
As a result, he is one of the few of the promoted crop expected to retain his starting position for the forthcoming Premier League season.
The Northern Ireland international arrived from Linfield for less than £1m and has developed into a key player on Wearside.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2021/22 | 3 | 0 | 0 |
2022/23 | 35 | 2 | 2 |
2023/24 | 47 | 1 | 1 |
2024/25 | 48 | 3 | 6 |
However, Hume has attracted interest from the Premier League, with Everton and Wolves credited with interest.
Now, Wolfsburg have made a £10m bid for the right back, according to Ben Jacobs (11 August).
The 23-year-old currently has two years remaining on his contract, while there is an option for a further year.
Hume last agreed fresh terms in the summer of 2023, meaning the Black Cats could be forced into action soon.

Black Cats have only one word to say to Wolfsburg after Hume bid
Given Hume’s importance to Sunderland, the only thing they need to say to Wolfsburg is no.
The Northern Irishman is one of the North East club’s best players, and he is deserving of a Premier League chance.
Furthermore, the right back is surely worth more than the £10m on the table from the Bundesliga side.
- Hume is one of Sunderland’s longest-serving players
- He was recognised for his stellar performances
- The defender is due a new contract at the Stadium of Light
Hume has a high ceiling, and at 23, he could go on to become a leading full-back in the Premier League.
Wolfsburg is not exactly much of a step up either, meaning the move should not appeal to the defender.
Sunderland must now be proactive and offer Hume the contract he deserves at the Stadium of Light.
