Sunderland have daunting Elland Road record to overcome vs Leeds, latest injury news won’t help
Sunderland will be looking to secure their first win away to Leeds since 2006, though their recent record there is the least of their worries.
Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth certainly caused plenty of frustration, mainly down to the incompetence on show from Jarred Gillett.
However, Regis Le Bris will take heart from the fact that his side were able to put an end to their losing run, and will be looking to continue that on Tuesday when they travel to face Leeds.
But if the Black Cats are to achieve that, they must do something that no other side has managed at Elland Road since 2023.
Elland Road under the lights is a different beast that Sunderland must be prepared for
Sunderland’s success on their return to the Premier League has revolved around the form they have showcased at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats have lost just twice there all season, while having the sixth-best home record in the division.
With 22 points from 14 games, Leeds have the 13th-best record in the division, but their strengths come in games that are played under the lights at Elland Road.
Leeds are unbeaten in their last 22 home evening league games, having won their last 13 in a row with an aggregate score of 33-7.

Their last defeat in that scenario came against Liverpool back in 2023, when they suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat.
Sunderland will have to contend with that remarkable record, and the latest injury news from Elland Road will give them even more cause for pessimism.
Joe Rodon injury update shared ahead of Sunderland clash
Joe Rodon has been Leeds’ Dan Ballard this season, in more ways than one.
The Wales international has been one of their best players over the course of the campaign, but had started to emerge as a doubt for Tuesday’s encounter.
However, Daniel Farke has since confirmed that Rodon should be able to make the squad.
In his latest press conference, he said: “Rodon is okay, expect him to be available. The only question mark was James Justin, straight leg against him. Needed to be stitched after the game. Hope he is available too.”
Rodon played on the right of a back three in the reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light, and is likely to do the same at Elland Road.
