Sunderland have Alan Browne dilemma on hands amid transfer latest
Sunderland have been busy recruiting new midfielders this summer, which has left Alan Browne’s future uncertain.
The 30-year-old only joined the Mackems a year ago from Preston North End, and he was dubbed one of the best midfielders in the Championship.
Now, Sunderland have significantly bolstered their midfield, with Granit Xhaka the latest player to add depth and experience in the middle of the park.
The Black Cats’ incomings will surely be met with outgoings, with Browne one of those expected to depart the Stadium of Light this summer.

Sunderland are expecting a heap of transfer activity in the coming weeks.
Regis Le Bris’ side are expected to target a centre-back after completing their midfield, with their defence a worry after the 3-0 defeat to Hearts on Saturday (26 July).

Midfielders Dan Neil and Chris Rigg have been linked with departures from Wearside, but Browne seems the most likely to leave the Black Cats.
At 30 years old, Browne could do with regular football, and given Le Bris’ added competition, that seems unlikely.
The Irishman has shown over the years that he can be a top-class Championship central midfielder, and he is likely to rejoin the second tier in the coming weeks.

There has been plenty of transfer activity across England’s four tiers this summer.
Potential departures south of Wearside in Middlesbrough could have a knock-on affect for the Mackems.
Boro have recently signed Abdoulaye Kante from Troyes to add to their midfield, but with Hayden Hackney set to leave, they could look at recruiting Browne.
The two clubs have a reputation of exchanging players in recent seasons, and Browne could be next.
Several clubs in the English Football League have been keeping tabs on the creative midfielder, and with the potential for Browne to get back to his best form in the Championship, it is a surprise that teams are yet to make a move.
