Sunderland handed potential boost as Jobe Bellingham update emerges from Frankfurt

Sunderland may be resigned to losing some of their best players this summer, and Jobe Bellingham could be one of the key ones to depart.

Bellingham has been a key performer for Sunderland this season as they achieved promotion back to the Premier League after a long absence.

His fine work has not gone unnoticed, and several clubs are interested in signing Bellingham from Sunderland this summer.

The midfielder could follow the path of his brother Jude Bellingham, and move to Borussia Dortmund, but there have also been links with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bellingham yet to negotiate with Frankfurt

It was recently reported that Bellingham went to visit Eintracht Frankfurt ahead of a possible transfer, which would see him depart Sunderland despite their promotion.

However, this may not necessarily be the case, as it seems that the midfielder is yet to make a decision over his future, and there have been no negotiations with Frankfurt.

German journalist Christopher Michel (29 May) has now claimed that Bellingham’s visit was so he could assess all of his options, rather than to talk with Frankfurt.

A sale is a long way away, and this may come as a boost for Sunderland as it may indicate that he is picking his next move carefully, with staying at the Stadium of Light a possibility.

Sunderland would love to keep Bellingham

Although the proceeds from a sale could be beneficial for Sunderland, they would love to keep Bellingham if he is willing to stay.

Bellingham is yet to decide whether Frankfurt is the right move for him, and while he could play in the Champions League there, he could be tempted to continue in the Premier League after working so hard to get there.

Sunderland have also been linked with Jordan Henderson, who could replace, or play alongside the midfielder as Regis Le Bris prepares for the tough challenge of the top flight.

The 19-year-old was a vital figure, making 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring four times and assisting three, and will be difficult to replace if he does head to Germany.
