Sunderland ‘get Joe Gomez answer’ as Liverpool exit stance revealed
Sunderland are interested in Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.
Regis Le Bris is in desperate need of Premier League experience as they return to the top-flight after an eight-year absence.
Gomez fits the bill, as he is a proven star in the division and could help shore up the defence.
It would be a major coup if they could convince him to make the move to the North East, where he could potentially reunite with Jordan Henderson, should he return.

Liverpool set to keep Gomez amid Sunderland links
The Stadium of Light outfit were one of several top-flight clubs linked with a £30million move for the Anfield star.
A report from The Athletic (24 June) claims that the Reds plan to keep Gomez on Merseyside due to his versatile nature.
Therefore, it appears that the Mackems will have to look elsewhere to strengthen their defence.

Gomez move would have been a risk for Sunderland
It may be for the best that the Mackems will not sign the former England ace, as he has a problematic injury history.
Iconic commentator Ian Darke told Mackem News that while a move for Gomez would have been fantastic, it would also represent a “phenomenal gamble”.
The former Charlton man featured just nine times for Arne Slot’s side last season for a total of 519 minutes, and it would have been a huge risk if Kristjaan Speakman and Co decided to bring him in.
He missed 28 matches in the title-winning campaign with a hamstring injury that eventually forced him to undergo surgery in February, so there would have been huge question marks over his fitness if he was signed.
The Black Cats still need to add a couple of defensive recruits as they need top-flight experience in their squad, despite it looking like Gomez will not be making the move to the SR5 outfit.
Le Bris and Co will have to turn their attention to alternative targets, but one thing is for sure, they have to get new additions in, otherwise relegation will seem like a formality.
