Sunderland fans will love what Jordan Henderson did after Brentford’s win vs Newcastle

Jordan Henderson has proven his loyalty to Sunderland over the years.

The 35-year-old came through the academy and made 78 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats as a youngster.

Henderson left Sunderland to join Liverpool in 2011 and enjoyed an illustrious career with the Reds, and after a couple of spells abroad, he eventually returned to the Premier League in the summer following his move to Brentford.

Prior to his Brentford move, Henderson was heavily linked with Sunderland, although a return to the Stadium of Light never materialised.

He has thrived for the Bees and played a big part in their 3-2 win over Newcastle on Saturday, which will leave Sunderland fans very happy.

In a move that cost £20million, Henderson won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup with Liverpool before having short stints at Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq and Dutch giants Ajax.

He has become one of the most successful English midfielders of this generation, and it’s a testament to how successful Sunderland’s academy is.

Henderson has always spoken highly of Sunderland, and he would have done the fans proud with his performance against Newcastle.

After Brentford won 3-2 at St James’ Park, Henderson posted pictures from the game on Instagram.

His caption read: “Top night on the Toon.”

Although Sunderland lost 3-0 to Arsenal earlier in the day, that might just put a smile on the faces of supporters.

Sunderland are exceeding expectations this season, and they are in a brilliant position to finish above the Magpies if they continue their run of form.

Sunderland have the perfect opportunity to finish above Newcastle

Newcastle’s players have certainly proven their worth over the last year as they won a major trophy and qualified for the Champions League.

However, they’ve struggled badly in the Premier League this season and have gained just one point from their last four matches.

They currently sit 12th in the table, three points behind the Black Cats in ninth place.

Regis Le Bris’ side still have to go to St James’ Park on 22 March, and that will prove to be a big indication of which fanbase will earn the bragging rights this season.

But there’s no doubt they are on course to finish above their rivals, which would have been unthinkable at the start of the campaign.
