Sunderland fans have mixed emotions as new kit leaked in Wearside beach images
Sunderland fans have been offered a glimpse of what their players will be wearing when the Black Cats make their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
For the first time in eight years, Sunderland will play in the top flight of English football after beating Sheffield United 2-1 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley (24 May).
Ahead of their return to the big time, Sunderland’s away kit has been leaked as new images surface on social media.
While some of the Mackems seem happy with the away shirt they will be donning in the Premier League, it has also received its fair share of criticism.

Sunderland to play in blue next season
Sunderland’s away kit for the new season features a blue design with Hummel’s signature white chevrons on the sleeves of the shirt.
In an image posted by RokerReport on X (28 May), the kit can be seen in an image from Wearside beach, and is pictured alongside the 1990 classic on which it is inspired.
However, while some fans were pleased with the retro design, not everybody was impressed by the leak.
Sunderland looking fashionable won’t be enough to keep them up
It appears as though Sunderland supporters are divided when it comes to their thoughts on the new kit. However, they will need to be firmly united to give their side the best opportunity to stay in the Premier League.
This will be no easy task, especially when considering that Jobe Bellingham looks set to leave Sunderland. The loss of Bellingham would be a massive hole for Le Bris to attempt to fill.
Sunderland 2024/25 | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Jobe Bellingham | 43 | 4 | 3 |
Former player and academy graduate Jordan Henderson has been linked with a return to the Stadium of Light, and the UEFA Champions League and Premier League winner could be a shrewd signing for Sunderland.
Henderson’s experience and leadership would be a valuable addition to Le Bris’ squad of youngsters.
Although he may not possess the quality of Bellingham, Henderson could be a perfect short-term solution to reinforce the Black Cats’ midfield relatively cheaply, allowing them to invest in other areas.
