Sunderland fans infuriated after what happened v West Brom – ‘Astonishing’
Sunderland secured another big three points against West Brom, though it wasn’t the football that caught the attention of those watching.
Sunderland managed to get one over on ex-boss Tony Mowbray with a 1-0 win against West Brom, all but cementing a fourth-place finish.
Regis Le Bris’ side took another huge step towards promotion, and while the performance wasn’t their best, it was enough to see them continue this momentum.
However, it was the performance of the man in the middle that left fans scratching their heads on more occasions than one.

West Brom had 12 men on the pitch v Sunderland
Unlike against Preston, when they quite literally had 12 players on the pitch, referee Tom Nield might as well have had an Abion strip on, after some remarkably questionable decisions.
Eliezer Mayenda was booked for being fouled, while Kyle Bartley’s horrendous challenge on Wilson Isidor wasn’t even awarded as a free kick, about 30 seconds before Alan Browne was booked for perceived time wasting.
Sunderland fans immediately took to X to react to the official’s performance, and everyone was left saying the same things.
That was an astonishing decision

How can they be this bad?
West Brom player was penalised for diving but didn’t get booked in the first half. Have I

missed an amendment to the law where diving is now not an automatic yellow card?
No repercussions though 🤷🏻

Le Bris has Sunderland in an excellent position
With six games to go, the season feels somewhat flat given the fact that Sunderland are caught in the middle of two different races, while being involved in neither.
A top two finish is rather unlikely, while the playoffs are all but confirmed, though that is down to the success they have found throughout the season.
Championship | W | D | L | P |
Sunderland | 21 | 12 | 7 | 75 |
Momentum will be crucial for Sunderland going into the playoffs, and if they can idn that in their performances, they may well be a Premier League team next season.
Le Bris will be hoping that he can get his squad back to full capacity, though that looks unlikely given that Romaine Mundle was once again withdrawn from the clash with the Baggies with a hamstring injury.
Sunderland travel to Norwich this Tuesday, in what will be another crucial encounter.
