Sunderland fans hit hardest in shocking new Premier League reveal

Sunderland have released the full details of their season tickets for the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The Black Cats will return to the Premier League after their incredible trip to Wembley last month saw them defeat Sheffield United 2-1.

Fans will be patiently awaiting the new season after eight years away from the top flight, and will now look to purchase their season tickets in their thousands.

However, promotion will come at a much higher cost to loyal supporters after recent revelations.

Sunderland fans have previously expressed concerns over the new season ticket policies, which plan to punish Junior members for low game attendance.

Sunderland increases season ticket prices ahead of Premier League campaign

Sunderland are one of 13 top-flight clubs to increase their cheapest adult prices for next season.

As reported by The Mirror (9 June), the Black Cats are the “hardest hit” in the new figures.

Sunderland have raised the price of their cheapest ticket by 11 per cent to now cost £490, with rivals Newcastle upping their prices by 5 per cent to £695.

Fellow promoted team Leeds United have also hiked prices, with a 14 per cent rise to £495, following their promotion; however, Burnley have frozen their prices for the upcoming season.

Fans across the Premier League feel their loyalty is being exploited with these decisions.

Sunderland fans now face decisions whether to renew at a higher cost, for a lower amount of games than in their Championship season.

Yet it is likely fans will see their return to the Premier League as priceless, especially with the Tyne-Wear derby returning to the Stadium of Light.

The picture is not all negative, as the Black Cats rank fourth on the cheapest adult season tickets.

In addition, the Premier League voted to retain the £30 cap on away match tickets, benefiting fans who are willing to follow Sunderland around the country.

Sunderland’s finances have benefited this summer

After their promotion was confirmed, the Black Cats have had a successful summer in terms of finances, with their Championship play-off victory bringing in an estimated £220million.

The first opening of the summer transfer window saw the departure of two fan favourites from the Stadium of Light, bringing revenue to the club.

Jobe Bellingham has joined Borussia Dortmund on a club-record-breaking transfer fee of £27.8million.

Tommy Watson, who had a perfect ending to his time in the North East after scoring the winning play-off final goal, has joined Premier League side Brighton on a £10million deal.

The Mackems have now inherited a promising position within the transfer window, as they are now prepared to spend big.

Regis Le Bris will certainly be looking to bring in new talent to the club, ahead of a highly physical and demanding Premier League campaign.
