Sunderland fans fume at ‘awful’ Sky Sports error in play-off v Coventry
Sunderland faced Coventry City in the playoff semi-final second leg, with both teams aiming to get to Wembley.
Sunderland went into the match two games away from a Premier League return after a successful first season under Regis Le Bris.
The Black Cats have attempted multiple tricks to ensure that they got into the final, with Sunderland even changing the size of their pitch before the match.
However, the fans who were unable to make it to the game were given a terrible shock after Sky Sports wrongly changed the scoreline in the first-half.

Sky Sports make scoreline mistake in Sunderland’s playoff match against Coventry
Sunderland went into the game at the Stadium of Light with a one-goal advantage after their 2-1 victory over Coventry City last week.
As a result, the Black Cats had sold out for the second-leg as they looked to reach the final.
However, this meant that many supporters were forced to watch the game on TV, with Sky Sports broadcasting the match live.
Yet, near the start of the first half, they somehow managed to change the aggregate scoreline to 3-3 despite it still being 2-1 in Sunderland’s favour.
This caused outrage from the Black Cats fanbase, with some claiming to have a ‘heart attack’ when seeing the score.
Sky Sports should apologise to Sunderland over scoreline mistake
It is criminal for Sky Sports to make such a basic error in one of the most important games of the season for both clubs.
Any fan who tuned into the match late would have presumed that Sunderland had already conceded twice, despite them winning the tie at the time.
This is simply unacceptable and would have caused unneeded stress to the Black Cats fanbase.
If this happened to be the scoreline by the matches end, it would no doubt spark numerous conspiracy theories from Sunderland fans thanks to this error.
Now, the company must apologise to the fanbase and ensure that this never happens again.
