View: Sunderland fans can breathe sigh of relief after what Dennis Cirkin posted
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Sunderland star Dennis Cirkin although his latest Instagram post suggests he’s going nowhere.
The former Spurs academy prospect has been in remarkable form for the Black Cats and was linked with promotion rivals Leeds on Sunday, 10 November.
Around the same time the news emerged, Cirkin posted a picture of him pointing to the Sunderland badge with a love heart emoji on an Instagram story.
Dennis Cirkin will be crucial for Sunderland this season
Cirkin has been one of the best players in the Championship this season, never mind at Sunderland. The left-back has been in outstanding form and his goal against Coventry was just a reward for his contributions so far.
Both defensively and offensively, Cirkin has been influential in Sunderland’s promotion charge so far and his absence would significantly weaken their hopes of a return to the Premier League.
While it would seem unlikely Sunderland would entertain offers for the full-back, let alone from direct promotion rivals, Cirkin’s post hints at his loyalty to the club who have given him a platform to showcase his ability in senior football.

Quite remarkably, Cirkin is still only 22 years old. Far, far away from reaching his full potential and he is already arguably the best full-back in the Championship.
If Sunderland are successful in their bid for a Premier League return, you’d expect him to be able to make the step up seamlessly.
In other Sunderland news, Regis Le Bris admits he was disappointed after his side let their two-goal lead slip against Coventry on Saturday afternoon.
