Sunderland have enquired about the availability of Roma's Enzo Le Fee with an "explicit request" from Regis Le Bris according to Matteo Moretto.

The Relevo journalist, via a post on X (5 January), reported that Sunderland have sent an enquiry for the midfielder who had previously played under Le Bris at Lorient.

Given his £14.9million value (TransferMarkt), it would be more likely a loan deal is being pursued in the January transfer window in a bid to boost their promotion hopes.

Betis are reported to have made contact with Roma but no official offer was ever made.

Sunderland could land a starlet with Enzo Le Fee

The Black Cats certainly need to utilise the transfer window to the best of their ability and the links to Le Fee certainly suggest they will be doing just that.

Having made a name for himself under Le Bris, Le Free earned a reputation s one of the most promising players in France prior to his move to Roma which hasn't quite worked out.

His ability to play in multiple midfield positions would see him thrive at Sunderland with a distinct lack of depth given the injuries to several players.

While it may appear a difficult deal to pull off, the Le Bris factor could play a huge role in deciding where Le Fee ends up in this window if he does opt to depart from Italy.

All eyes will be on the transfer window as the Black Cats eye reinforcement that could help them maintain their push for a Premier League return.
