Sunderland ecstatic with Jobe Bellingham developments: ‘It’s a huge amount of money’
Sunderland and Jobe Bellingham parted ways in the summer, but the spotlight remains on the teenager.
Sunderland’s transfer business was incredible in the summer, with several of those brought to the Stadium of Light already having a significant impact.
However, a lot of that business would not have been possible had it not been for Jobe’s transfer to Dortmund for a fee in the region of £31million.
With that said, while Sunderland have been thriving in Jobe’s absence, the same cannot be said the other way around, with a new claim emerging on the nature of the deal.

Sunderland will be even happier with Jobe sale
When Jobe‘s sale was announced, the initial fee was met with a lot of mixed reactions.
Some thought that Sunderland could have held out for more, while others couldn’t believe the deal the Black Cats were able to pull off.
However, after Jobe made a costly error against Bayern, and has generally struggled in the Bundesliga, more are starting to join the opinion that it was exceptional business, and finance expert Dan Plumley has echoed that.
Speaking exclusively to Mackem News, he said: “We said this at the time, didn’t we? It was a huge amount of money for the player at that moment in time, moving from a newly promoted Premier League club to Dortmund.
“It seemed like a good deal, all ends up for Sunderland, and we can talk about not wanting to lose the player, but at that moment in time, it was too good an offer to turn down.
“It’s not like Sunderland and Dortmund will be crossing paths anytime soon, but with what’s happening over there at the minute, if you’re Sunderland in the cold, hard financial world of football, that’s a good deal, and I’m sure they’ll be happy with the business.”
Jobe’s sale revolutionised Sunderland’s midfield
When Jobe left Sunderland, the first question was how the Black Cats would replace him.
They have not only done that, but they have significantly improved on him.
Noah Sadiki has been a star for Sunderland this season, while Granit Xhaka is already emerging as an early contender for the player of the season.
| Minutes | Accurate passes | Key passes | Dribbles (successful) | Tackles (won) | Ground duels (won) | Rating |
| 90 | 18/20 | 1 | 2 (2) | 2 (2) | 6 (5) | 7.0 |
That is with Habib Diarra to add to the conversation, with his return expected sometime in December after undergoing surgery.
It’s remarkable of well Sunderland have done when it comes to replacing their stars, having already done it with Ross Stewart and Jack Clarke before Jobe moved on.
