View: EFL goal of the month snub for Sunderland duo is ridiculous
Dennis Cirkin and Wilson Isidor have been ludicrously omitted from the Championship Goal of the Month award despite their wonder strikes for Sunderland against Coventry.
While the Black Cats’ 2-2 draw against Coventry on 9 November was seen as a poor result given their 2-0 lead in the game, the goals scored by Sunderland were phenomenal.
Cirkin has been a standout performer on Wearside and was the scorer of one of them, having fired a 25-yard strike into the top corner of the Coventry goal after winning the ball in his own half.
Isiidor was the scorer of the other, finding the top corner with a left-footed volley from the edge of the box demonstrating remarkable ability.
It is genuinely mind-numbing to see that the goals haven’t been nominated for the November Goal of the Month award as posted by the Sky Bet Championship X account on 13 December.
Cirkin may have scored the Goal of the Season for Sunderland
The draw against Coventry was just one of several very poor results for Sunderland last month. Even more disappointing when you consider that the Black Cats held a two-goal advantage in the game.
Wilson Isidor’s goal was arguably just as good as Cirkin’s in terms of the finish but the very fact that Cirkin started the move for his goal on the edge of the own box was incredible.
To see neither nominated is quite hilarious when you see some of the other goals mentioned.

Sunderland certainly need to find that scoring touch again having won just one of their last eight fixtures with Patrick Roberts sparring their blushes with a 93rd minute equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Bristol City on 10 December.
Another wonder strike from Cirkin certainly wouldn’t go a miss as the Black Cats look to get back on the promotion track ahead of the new year.
