Sunderland Women ‘delighted’ as Black Cats make new contract announcement
Sunderland have announced that one of their upcoming stars has signed a contract on Wearside.
For Sunderland as a club, this campaign has been a successful one across all departments in the North East.
Regis Le Bris’ side are 90 minutes away from a Premier League return, Graeme Murty’s Under-21 side finished firmly in mid-table after a successful campaign in Premier League 2, and Mel Reay’s Women’s side finished seventh in the FA Women’s Super League 2.
Only the men’s final remains for the Wearside outfit, though the Women’s side have already started making some progress ahead of their campaign.

Reay’s side boosted as Emily Cassap signs professional deal
Sunderland Women have had their ups and downs this season after coming close to promotion last time out, but Reay will see it as a positive campaign at large.
Reay’s side have certainly suffered some setbacks this year, but as more eyes fixate on the Women’s game, the more they will progress.
With that in mind, Sunderland Women have announced that highly rated 18-year-old Emily Cassap has signed her first professional deal on Wearside via a post on X.

The announcement reads: “We are delighted to announce that Emily Cassap has signed her first professional contract with the Club! Congratulations, Emily!”
Cassap scored her first goal for the Black Cats back in December 2023, and with the right management, she can contribute plenty to Reay’s side going forward.

Le Bris can sign off on a successful Sunderland campaign
Progress has certainly been made across all departments at Sunderland, and there will be no better reward for that than to see Le Bris’ side make a return to the Premier League.
Their season will officially come to an end this Saturday when they face Sheffield United in the play-off final at Wembley, with over 35,000 Mackems expected to be there for the biggest game of the season.
It will undoubtedly be a tough encounter, but certainly one that the Black Cats can achieve something special in if they replicate performances from throughout the season.
