Sunderland could get Ruben Amorim sacked as major Manchester United news emerges

Sunderland have flourished in their early Premier League games, but there is still plenty of work to do if they want to survive.

Regis Le Bris’ men earned a point against Crystal Palace on Saturday and showed that they can deliver the gritty performances required away from home.

Sunderland should be boosted by the return of Dan Ballard when they face Aston Villa as they seek a third straight home win.

Perhaps the most eye-catching fixture on the horizon is Manchester United, and it seems that fixture could be pivotal to Ruben Amorim’s future.

Ruben Amorim has three games to save Man United job

Le Bris must solve his Sunderland striking dilemma over the next few weeks, with Eliezer Mayenda, Wilson Isidor, and Brian Brobbey all vying for a starting berth.

The Wearsiders face Villa, Nottingham Forest, and United before the international break and will be hopeful of bagging some points.

At the start of the campaign, the three opponents would have represented daunting prospects, but they have all endured lacklustre starts to the season.

A match against the Red Devils will mean a reunion with Amad Diallo, but it could potentially hold even greater significance.

It is understood that the Old Trafford club will assess Amorim’s situation and the trajectory of the team after the next three games, according to the back page of the Daily Mirror on 17 September.

United face Chelsea, Brentford, and Sunderland, with Amorim already under immense pressure.

Last season, the Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League, which was their worst league position for 51 years.

Could Sunderland get Ruben Amorim sacked at Man United?

If Amorim cannot turn around United’s form soon, then it is surely a matter of time until he is given the sack.

With Chelsea at home and Brentford away up next, it is plausible that the Red Devils come away with minimal points.

That would then tee up an intriguing clash with the Black Cats at Old Trafford, where United would be expected to clinch all three points.

While Sunderland have shown great promise, surrendering to a promoted team at home would surely mean the end for Amorim.

If Le Bris’ men can build more confidence before that game, then they will enter the match with genuine belief they can come away with a win.

Since the Amorim took over as manager, no Premier League team from last season has gained fewer points.

Now, the Wearsiders will be plotting to deal him his final blow at Old Trafford.
