Sunderland could face EFL fine after what happened v West Brom
Sunderland’s 1-0 win over West Brom saw several controversial incidents occur at The Hawthorns, one of which could lead to punishment for the Black Cats.
Sunderland took one step closer to the Premier League with a 1-0 win away to West Brom, courtesy of yet another Trai Hume goal.
However, the game was filled with controversial incidents, one of which Kyle Bartley was fortunate to get away with after his challenge on Wilson Isidor.
One of the other incidents happened at the half-time interval, and Sunderland could be set to receive an EFL-imposed fine as a result of it.

Sunderland didn’t turn up for the second half
Figuratively, there have been a number of games this season where Sunderland have failed to perform in the second half of the game, but against West Brom, they quite literally didn’t turn up on time.
Officials and Albion players were ready to resume play, with the Sunderland squad nowhere to be seen until the referee blew the whistle, and Keith Hackett claims the Black Cats could be fined for it.
Championship | W | D | L | P |
Sunderland | 21 | 12 | 7 | 75 |
Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Hackett said: “Sunderland coming out late could be an act of gamesmanship.
“The referee will include this in his post-match report and the EFL are more than likely to issue a fine.”
Tom Nield certainly didn’t perform his duties to a very high standard at The Hawthorns, and just had no control of the game whatsoever, though it didn’t prevent the Black Cats from securing all three points.

Regis Le Bris can achieve something special with Sunderland
Sunderland have promotion in their sight, though it is looking like the playoffs will be their biggest chance of achieving it.
Six games remain, and the Black Cats need to head into each and every one of them with a cup final mentality.
Momentum will be key to success, and as things stand, the Mackems are building nicely towards that, and if Regis Le Bris can get his squad back to full capacity, it will serve as a huge positive for the final run-in.
